'A' grades and an 'excellent' rating has been awarded to the Association for its housing management and property maintenance services by Communities Scotland, the Scottish Executive's housing and regeneration agency, in its role as the housing regulator.

The above grades were awarded following an intensive inspection process carried out in November 2004 which examined how well the Association was delivering services to its tenants.

Lynn McCulloch, Head of Inspection at Communities Scotland, said:
"Lanarkshire Housing Association is to be congratulated on its success in making such a positive impact on people's lives. This is a landlord that is focused on meeting the needs of its customers and on continuing to improve the already excellent services it provides. The results are that its houses are in good condition and residents are happy with their neighbourhoods".

Tom Cartwright, Chairman of the Association also stated that :
"The Association is delighted with the excellent 'A' grades awarded by Communities Scotland's inspection team, recognising the quality of our housing management and property maintenance services. The report also acknowledged the strength of our governance and financial management as well as our development work in promoting social and environmental welfare.

The inspection's findings truly reflect the hard work, dedication and joint effort of voluntary committee members and professional staff, particularly in encouraging tenant participation and a challenging performance culture. We must thank key partners including North Lanarkshire Council, community groups, tenant organisations and the area investment team of Communities Scotland. We reaffirm our commitment to continuous improvement in partnership with local communities".
