Lanarkshire Housing Association (LHA) is registered as a social landlord (an RSL) under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 (Reg. No. 1942 R(S) and is a non-profit making organisation. We are also registered by the Scottish Housing Regulator (Social Landlord No. 202), who regulate all social housing providers in Scotland.
The Association attained charitable status under the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 on 19 August 2011 and is registered as a Scottish Charity (Reg. No. SCO42523). We are also registered under the Property Factors (Scotland) Act 2011 (Reg. No. PF000275).
Our development activity was historically based in Motherwell district, which is now within North Lanarkshire Council. Our housing provisions cover areas such as Motherwell, Bellshill, Mossend, Newarthill, Carfin, New Stevenston and Tannochside.
LHA was first registered in 1978 when, in partnership with NLC, we successfully undertook a programme of improvements to older properties that fell below the 'tolerable standards'. With our subsequent programme of new-build housing, over many years, we have expanded into an important social landlord with wider activities aimed at promoting social inclusion and protecting the environment.
